CLOTHING CARE - GUIDE
TATUUM clothes are designed to be worn for years. That is why we share the best practices for caring for the fabrics most commonly found in our collections.
LINEN
01 / HOW TO TAKE CARE OF LINEN CLOTHES?
Linen clothes are best washed at low temperatures – maximum 30°C – using mild detergents that will not weaken the fabric. Set the spin cycle on your washing machine to a maximum of 400 rpm. Instead of fabric softener, add half a cup of vinegar. The unpleasant smell will disappear during the rinse cycle, and your linen clothes will be soft without harming the environment. After removing the clothes from the washing machine, let them dry on a drying rack or hangers. You can iron linen clothes even if they are still slightly damp – this will speed up the process.
TIP: To quickly smooth out linen clothes, hang them in the bathroom while taking a warm shower – the steam will help get rid of creases.
02 / HOW TO TAKE CARE OF WOOLEN CLOTHES?
Woolen clothes will serve you well for a long time if you take proper care of them. It is essential to read the instructions on the label, which contain care tips for a specific type of wool. The basic rule for washing wool is to check whether the garment can be washed in a washing machine. If not, it should be washed by hand or taken to a dry cleaner. Choose detergents designed for washing this fabric. Otherwise, they may damage the delicate fibres.
TIP: After hand washing wool, do not wring it out or squeeze it hard. It is best to lay the garment on a towel so that it absorbs most of the moisture.
03 / HOW TO TAKE CARE OF DENIM CLOTHES?
Wash denim garments at a maximum temperature of 30°C. However, always check the temperature on the label. Empty the pockets, fasten the buttons and zips to prevent damage and deformation of the garments during washing. Turn them inside out to protect their colour. If the denim is very dirty, you do not need to do this. Be sure to separate denim garments from other clothes to ensure that colours do not mix and that the clothes retain their colour. If possible, use a programme specifically designed for washing denim.
TIP: Do not iron jeans or dry them in the sun. This will help preserve the colour of your clothes.
DENIM
04 / HOW TO TAKE CARE OF COTTON CLOTHES?
Cotton clothes are best washed at a maximum temperature of 40°C, both white and coloured. To preserve colours and avoid staining, always separate light-coloured clothes from dark ones. If your clothes have patches, decorations or rhinestones, it is a good idea to turn them inside out or wash them by hand. When machine washing, set the spin cycle to 400 rpm for delicate clothes — this will help them retain their shape.
TIP: How to preserve the colour of cotton clothes? Add table salt during rinsing.
COTTON
SILK
05 / HOW TO TAKE CARE OF SILK CLOTHES?
Silk garments are best washed by hand in cool water, using only mild detergents. When washing, move the garment slowly, as wet silk is very delicate and can be damaged. After washing, place the silk garment on a towel, roll it up carefully and squeeze gently. Continue drying flat by placing the garment on a towel.
TIP: Iron silk garments inside out, preferably through a cotton cloth.
CASHMERE
06 / HOW TO TAKE CARE OF CASHMERE CLOTHES?
Cashmere garments are characterised by low susceptibility to dirt and odour absorption, which means they need to be washed less often. Importantly, cashmere garments should not be washed by hand. We recommend selecting a delicate wash cycle in the washing machine. Such garments should be dried flat on a towel to avoid deformation.
TIP: To prevent cashmere garments from pilling, it is advisable to comb them with a special comb designed for this purpose.
